Fridays in July and August, the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater invites you to celebrate our neighborhood with their third annual Celebrate East Liberty Summer Series!

Pay what you can at these special performances by emerging and established, local and national artists. From Baker & Tarpaga’s West African and contemporary dance to the Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra’s take on classical, rock and pop music–the spotlight shines on imagination all summer long! Visit www.kelly-strayhorn.org for a complete schedule of events and to reserve your tickets today! Times vary, so be sure to check the schedule.

You’re invited to come early to mix and mingle during pre-show mixers and stay late for the post-show talkbacks all summer long. Meet the artists, residents, and business owners in East Liberty who infuse our community with creativity and culture, and be a part of a performance you won’t forget.

Join KST for the first performance in the Celebrate East Liberty Summer Series: “Mirette’s Circus”. Imagination and artistry takes the stage with this performance,  a Pittsburgh premiere by the Zany Umbrella Circus (USA) and Oko Sokolo Company (Berlin). A children’s story comes to life on  the high wire through circus, acrobats, street theater and live  music.

Mirette’s Circus is a magical interpretation of the unlikely  friendship between a young girl, Mirette, and a tight-wire  superstar. Set in 1920s Paris, Mirette’s Circus gives a nod to a  time when bohemian artists created theater in rehearsal halls  illuminated by gas light.
