Are you ready for the Chili Cookoff between the firefighters of Station #8 and the Giant Eagle Market District chefs Monday, August 8 at the East Liberty Citiparks Farmer’s Market?

From the Post-Gazette:

“The fun gets underway at 3:30 p.m., when in exchange for a small donation, market patrons get to sample some 20 gallons of chili — two varieties from each camp, while supplies last. Chef Bond plans to ladle a fiery, meat-based “Appalachian” version of the dish that highlights regional ingredients; Engine 8′s entries include a Southern-style turkey chili from A line’s Dan Doyle and Matt Bachner’s spicy-sweet “Backdraft” chili, made with pork and ground beef. Mr. Sovyak also may put his father’s secret chili recipe to the test, if he can find the time to make it before he goes on vacation.”
