Last Night in East Liberty, a wonderful thing happened. Residents and community members of Penn Circle Towers, Penn Manor/New Pennley Place, Rippey Street and Mellon Street were cooking out, playing music, socializing and representing their blocks. National Night Out spelled success by sending a warm, enthusiastic message that East Liberty’s residents care about public safety and neighborhood unity.
The parties ranged in size, but each with at least 20 neighbors throughout the night. Each of the parties were a pleasure to see, from the Penn Circle residents enjoying burgers and hot dogs while playing dominos to the swarm of children playing in front of the party on Rippey Street.
We encourage residents to keep the positivity going by leaving their outdoor lights on and socializing on their porches more often. When the community is united for public safety, crime has nowhere to flourish.
