The EECM Community Stress Center was created to improve the well-being of people who live in and around the East End by offering services to reduce stress and maintain physical and mental health. The Community Stress Center is now open every Tuesday and Thursday from 12-4 p.m. in East Liberty Presbyterian Church (116 S. Highland Ave.). Health and wellness screenings will be offered every time the Center is open. Attendees must be 18 years of age or older.
Here’s the Community Stress Center schedule for January:
-Thursday 1/13 1-3 p.m.: Craig Stevens of Family Resources will host an information session and discussion on tax preparation services and financial resources available in the community.
-Tuesday 1/18 1-3 p.m.: “Stress and Illness: What You Can Do” hosted by Dr. Marty Seltman. Come and learn about the impact of stress on illness.
-Thursday 1/20 1-2 p.m.: Join Deborah Dobranksy-Fasiska for a meditation workshop. Clear your mind and learn a new approach to managing daily stress!
-Tuesday 1/25 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Sherry Brooks will speak about faith and health.
-Thursday 1/27 12:30-2 p.m.: Learn to relax through simple Tai Chi moves with Stan Swartz (suggested attire: loose, comfortable clothing and tennis shoes).
