People who wish they were kids again might want to rethink that statement. Children can no longer avoid their immunization shot. If your child’s school health records indicate that your child is not current in their immunizations they get withdrawn from school after September 30, 2009. Schools do not want it to come down to suspensions, but are declaring the law is the law. Even worse, your child will not be permitted back tos chool until their immunizations are up to date.

For many parents, no school means no work. Therefore, get your child’s immunizations handled. If you’re reading this right now and your child is not up to date, don’t panic! There are clinics and sites in the Pittsburgh area that are offering the required immunizations for free! The following locations are offering immunizations:

  • Kingsley Center (6345 Frankstown Ave.) Tuesday 9/29/09 4:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Board of Education Central Administration Building (341 S. Bellefield Ave., 1st floor, Conference room A) Wedneday 9/30/09 4:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Allegheny County Health Department (3333 Forbes Avenue) 9/21-30 and 10/1-2 from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
