Jeri Lynne Johnson, who has made her mark internationally as founder and music director of the Philadelphia-based Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra and several local artists will discuss “Telling the World How to Treat You:  A Conversation with Women in the Arts” on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 pm at The Alloy Studios (5530 Penn Avenue). This event is free and open to the public.

 

Called “warriors from the future” by Pitchfork, Light Asylum is a synth pop duo with a pension for the dramatic and grand.  The dynamic duo features vocalist Shannon Funchess and instrumentalist Bruno Coviello.  Light Asylum shares the stage with Vie Boheme and DJ Lauren G.  This concert is on Friday, March 8 at 10 pm at 6119 Penn Avenue.

Phenomenal female vocalists from Ella to Lena advanced innovations in jazz from the front of the band.  A Tribute to the First Ladies of Jazz features an all star line-up of legends and legends in the making. Vocalists Spanky Wilson, Kenia, Tania Grubbs, Etta Cox, Maggie Johnson and Vanessa German are joined by the Roger Humphries Band on Saturday, March 9 at 8 pm at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
