As reported by the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Pittsburgh City Council is considering extending Bakery Square’s specially planned district designation to an adjacent 14-acre site where the Eastside Village Shopping Plaza is located.

The 14-acre site, called the “Bakery District Connector,” would include public gathering spaces and improved street and traffic patterns, as well as additional mixed-use development.

Walnut Capital, which has been engaging with nearby community groups, including ELDI, for nearly two years on the complex concept, would also help fund a $25 million effort to drive Black affordable and mixed-income homeownership by building and rehabilitating 100 homes in the city’s East End, focusing on the Larimer community.

We hope to see you there, and please help us spread the word!
