A community meeting was held at the Rodman Street Baptist Church on Thursday, February 13th to present and discuss the proposed South Beatty Street development. Reverend Dr. Canady welcomed the community and Councilman Reverend Ricky Burgess introduced the project.

The development team is comprised of Midpoint Group of Companies, Walnut Capital, and Corcoran Jennison Institutional Services. The team presented an overview of the proposal including the mix of market-rate and affordable units, the site planning, uses, and preliminary design of the buildings, and economic opportunities envisioned for the project. Questions and discussion included the amount of affordable housing, cost and types of housing units, time frame for development, availability and cost of parking during construction and at completion, and community inclusion in the planning process.

To ensure community participation during the planning and development process, attendees were invited to join the two working groups being convened by the development team—one about design and one focused on economic development. Meeting attendees signed up to participate. The working groups remain open for volunteers.
