Starting this month, there will be work to replace the traffic signal at Penn and Highland. Information about the project can be found on the EngagePGH page.

Work will take a few months to complete and will include:

  • Accessible pedestrian signals without countdown times and leading pedestrian intervals (walk sign will turn on for a few seconds before the green traffic light, giving pedestrians a head start)
  • New poles and LED signals
  • New ADA curb ramps
  • Other smaller upgrades that will make the intersection safer and more efficient for all users
