From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

A public meeting about education policy and the future of some of the city’s East End schools will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Pittsburgh Faison PreK-8′s primary campus, 7430 Tioga St. in Homewood, former city school board member Randall Taylor said.

The meeting will include representatives from StudentsFirst, a national group that advocates changes in certain education policies, such as school choice and methods of furloughing teachers.

Also, Mr. Taylor said, local speakers will address the Pittsburgh Public Schools’ plans for Peabody High School in East Liberty and Westinghouse High School in Homewood, which will become a pair of single-gender schools. He said there may be a campaign to force the district to rethink plans for the Homewood area.
