Construction is almost complete on the bi-directional conversion for Penn Circle South and East! Read the following update from the City of Pittsburgh regarding the conversion:
The City of Pittsburgh advises that the traffic conversion at Penn Circle to bi-directional traffic will be take place on Saturday, May 21, 2011, beginning at 7:00 a.m., in the East Liberty neighborhood. Both Penn Circle South, from South Highland Avenue to Penn Avenue, and Penn Circle East from Penn Avenue to Collins Street, will be open to two-way traffic by noon on May 21, 2011.
New pavement line striping and new traffic signals have been installed and will be in operation that morning. This project is part of a City and URA sponsored $5,000,000 infrastructure investment project that includes both traffic and streetscape improvements along Penn Circle.
City police officers will be available to assist in the conversion as well as City Public Works employees.
Port Authority riders should be alert to permanent relocation of bus stops in the affected area.
