With “Miriam,” the internationally renowned choreographer/prformer creates her first character-driven work – a deeply personal dance/theater performance that looks closely at the tension women face between public expectations and private desires; between selflessness and ambition; and between feminine ideals and imperialist racial views that define beauty and power.  “Miriam” reverberates with influences of such legends as writer Joseph Conrad and singer and activists Miriam Makeba.  The international cast includes actor/dancer Okwui Okpokwasili with music by Cuban born Grammy nominee Omar Sosa.
