We’re pleased to welcome Jonathan Huck to the ELDI team. With more than 15 years of experience working with CDCs and in real estate, his expertise will be a huge asset to our organization. Learn more about Jon and his role at ELDI in our Q&A with him below.
What is your role at ELDI?
I will be serving as ELDI’s director of real estate development. I get to take the properties that Kendall acquires and that Skip, Ted, Kendall, and Eric finance through the construction process, and transform them from neighborhood liabilities to assets.
What were you doing before this position?
I got a Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh but my loyalty remains to where I got my undergraduate degree, Penn State. I spent almost 14 years at the Northside Leadership Conference, a CDC similar to ELDI, working my way from volunteer to intern to project manager to real estate director. I worked with neighborhoods on building and renovating homes and commercial spaces.
What are you most excited to work on or develop at ELDI?
Figuring out the mechanics of the New Market Tax Credit-funded renovations and new construction of 26 homes so that we can do it again, plus how to successfully layer it with Federal Home Loan Bank grants for affordable housing.
Do you have a favorite spot or thing about East Liberty?
Not quite yet, but I’m enjoying my search for quality chicken and pizza as I work my way around the neighborhoods.
Anything else you’d like to share?
My wife, Siobhan and I have been married for 13 years plus we have an awesome six-year-old named Crosby, both of whom are way funnier than I can ever hope to be. Happy to report that I’ve made use of and support the efforts to build out bike/pedestrian trails throughout the region. At my age, I’m also blessed to still be playing hockey.
Thanks, Jon! We’re glad to have you.
