Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, Walnut Capital and Massaro Properties invite you to a groundreaking street party for the Walnut on Highland!
Join us Monday, April 16 at 12:00 p.m. for local food, music from Gene Stovall and the official groundbreaking for the Walnut on Highland.
Please come and be a part of the celebration! The Walnut on Highland, coming in June of 2013, will house 110 one-and-two bedroom apartments. Amenities for Walnut on Highland residents include a fitness center, a community room and a parking garage.
Are these going to be more high end apartments that even the average middle income East Liberty resident won’t be able to afford?
I love the direction that the neighborhood is going but don’t forget the middle class in your development.

Great question! This is a development from Walnut Capital and Massaro Properties.
The units are all market-rate. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article, the one-bedroom units will start at $1,100. They are hoping to attract graduate students and young professionals to the building.
We at East Liberty Development, Inc. are committed to making sure that East Liberty is a stable, sustainable, mixed-income community and we want to make sure our partners do the same. Thanks for reaching out, and don’t hesitate to ask more questions!
Best,
